The tune must be of at least four parts in any time signature, and of any type. The title of the tune must include the phrase “Centenary of Canberra” – for example, “The Centenary of Canberra Hornpipe”.

The prize for the winning tune is (AUD) $500 thanks to the generous support of local company Cantlie. The winning tune will also be framed and returned to the composer. The winning tune will also be framed and mounted for public viewing in a prominent building in Canberra.

Scottish Business Network opens in Queensland

A Queensland branch of the Scottish Business Network Australia (SBNA) has been established in Brisbane. Membership is open to business professionals of Scottish descent who share the organisation’s aim of encouraging mutually beneficial dialogue between individuals and companies, locally and globally. Queensland chair, Carmel Audsley, said the not-for-profit initiative started in Sydney and is now expanding to other capital cities in Australia. “Our aims in Queensland are to grow membership of the organisation and to facilitate networking events for local members, as well as provide links with overseas members who are specialists in their chosen fields,” Ms Audsley said. “By putting like-minded professionals in touch with each other, both in Australia and in Scotland, it may open up new commercial opportunities and expand business relationships.” The organisation is interested in providing investment opportunities in trade and commerce, professional employment opportunities and presenting Scotland as a gateway to Europe and Australia as a stable base for the Asia Pacific market. Membership of the SBNA is free. Visit www.scotlandhouse.info or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
