Who are we? The co-ordinating
body for Pipe Bands in Queensland. Our job is to support existing Bands,
help raise the standard of playing and performance and look for ways
to grow the Pipe Band movement.
Contact
us for Bands or Solo Players for Weddings, Funerals,
Parties, Corporate Functions. We can put you in touch with players and
bands all over Australia.
Our Website
has links to Bands, Scottish Shops, local Scottish Groups and other
organisations throughout the Piping and Pipe Band world. We also publicise
local social events of a Scottish character.
Newsletter:
We publish a newsletter approximately six times a year. All Bands and
kindred organisations get copies, you can find it on the Website, and
other organisations or individuals can be put on the list for free if
they have an email address or for $5 per annum if they want the newsletter
by post.
Certificates:
Sit for the Certificates of the Australian Pipe Band College in Piping,
Drumming, Dress and Drill or Rules and Administration. We hold workshops
to help you achieve the standards needed for the certificates. - these
can be arranged at times and places to suit those wanting to attend.
Contact the Secretary for more information.
QPBA
House: We occupy a building in the grounds of the “Old
Museum” near the Exhibition Ground in Brisbane. The building is
suitable for meetings and Band practices and is available for a nominal
charge. It is also used for Association meetings and College activities
Events:
We regulate Pipe Band Contests and solo Piping and Drumming Contests
in Queensland. We also conduct some of these contests ourselves. We
can run a Contest contained within a larger event (such as a local festival).
We can also supply massed pipe bands and help co-ordinate kindred organisations
such as Scottish dancers for an event organiser. Contact the Secretary
for more details.
