SOLOS INFORMATION

  • Entry Fees: $5 per event
  • Competitors must enter in their age category but are entitled to play up one element/higher event ONLY if they wish to do so (additional entry fee applies if players play up to the next event).
  • Full Highland Dress or accepted Pipe Band uniform to be worn while competing, the only exception will be in the Learner Chanter or Pad where smart attire will be optional.
  • Eligibility for all Veteran’s events is for players to be aged 35 years or over and currently Graded D.
  • In Event P9 Bronze Piobaireachd and Veteran’s Piobaireachd a Ground (Urlur) and Variation 1 (singling only) is to be played. If there is no Singling/Doubling
    definition then Variation 1 is to be played in its entirety.
  • All Piobaireachd must have a Crunluath Variation, even if not played as part of the Competition.
  • Learner chanter and Learner pad are open to those who have been playing 12 months and under.
  • Drummers must start with two 3 paced rolls. A snare drummer may be accompanied by one or two pipers only who shall play in the traditional manner (this is encouraged but not essential). A tenor drummer may be accompanied by one or two pipers and a snare drummer only who shall play in the traditional manner (this is encouraged but not essential)

BAND INFORMATION

  • The contest will be held under the PBA 2017 contest rules and conditions and all bands are encouraged to participate. Bands that can play for COMMENTS only are also encouraged to play.
  • The organisers reserve the right to alter the programme at their discretion.
  • All competing bands must be registered with their respective PBA Branch.
  • All competitors must wear Highland Dress or other approved band uniform.
  • Bands may compete up a level providing they can fulfil the requirements of that particular grade.
  • Competitors compete at their own risk. No liability will be undertaken.
  • All bands are requested to participate in the Massed Bands at the conclusion of the day.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Events may be cancelled if there are NOT two or more entrants in a particular event, In the event of cancellation, the unfortunate entrant/pipe band will receive a refund of their entry fee for that particular section
  • Medals will be awarded as prizes for placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Solo Competition.
  • Pipe Band Competition - a trophy will be awarded for first place and a medalliaon for 2nd and 3rd.
  • If there are only three competitors in an event awards will be for places 1st and 2nd.
  • Prize-giving arrangements and timings will be governed by numbers of competitors.
  • Entries close Thursday must be received by Thursday 26 April 2018; no late entries will be accepted. The promoter is not liable for entries that are: illegible, not received, incorrect or not paid.
